Monstrous?
J.J. has said that Monstrous is not the movie's title. Good. Because Monstrous plays into my worst fears about this movie. That it's little more than a geek-hip Bert I. Gordon potboiler. Little more than 8 Legged Freaks. And I want it to be more than that. Much.
Poster's a gas,though.

Who watches the Watchmen?
I sure will, once the movie finally comes out!
From comingsoon.net:
Watchmen Cast Confirmed!
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
July 26, 2007
Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed the cast for Watchmen, the big screen adaptation of the seminal DC Comics limited series.
Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Grey's Anatomy") and Malin Akerman will star in the Warner Bros. movie, which Zack Snyder is directing. Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin and Deborah Snyder are producing.
Set in an alternate America, Watchmen follows costumed hero Rorschach, who is living a vigilante lifestyle because most masked heroes have retired or been outlawed. While investigating a murder, Rorschach learns that a former masked-hero colleague has been killed, prompting him to begin investigating a possible conspiracy.
Haley will play Walter Kovacs, aka Rorschach, who ignores the ban on costumed vigilantes.
Crudup will play Dr. Manhattan, a superpowered being with godlike powers and temperament.
Akerman will play Laurie Juspeczyk/the Silk Spectre, who is involved with Dr. Manhattan -- but that relationship begins to fall apart as he becomes more disconnected from humanity.
Goode will play Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias, a costumed adventurer who retired voluntarily, disclosed his identity and built a large fortune. He hatches a plot to avert a global catastrophe he believes will be caused by Dr. Manhattan.
Wilson will play the Nite-Owl, a crime-figher who uses technical wizardry and has an owl-shaped flying vehicle.
Morgan will play the Comedian, a cigar-chomping, gun-toting vigilante-turned-paramilitary agent.
Watchmen was created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.
Shooting is set to start in the fall in Vancouver, with Snyder employing many of the filming techniques he used for his boxoffice success 300.
Billy Crudup, nekkid and blue!!! HOMAYGAZ! *drool*
I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! Hee! ;-)

Cloverfield = Chtulhu
Then this.
Rampant theories are that Cloverfield is an alias and that 1-18-08 is not a release date but the actual title or . . . the movie might not have any title at all.
And that this is Abrams riffing on Godzilla . . .or Chtulhu. Love Toho but giant reptiles rampaging through New York is just haggard and trite ,specially given the scaffolding of arcana they're building behind this.
Give me Chtulhu and no title . . . and Abrams owns me.
Still think Alias sucks eggs,though.
More here.
EDIT: Apparently ,those Ethan Haas sites have nothing at all to do with the movie.

The consequences of Sin
Black Canary 1 of 4
Written by Tony Bedard; Art and Cover by Paulo Sequeira and Amilton Santos
It has been frustrating – after the years Gail Simone spent building up the character, Black Canary is reduced to being knocked out early in a fight (JLA), Ollie’s lover – who after being taught by Lady Shiva’s trainer was made to “swallow” Slade’s sword in a fight (Green Arrow), and Nemesis’s face smacking onto her breasts after being dropped by Wonder Woman (Amazon’s Attack). Meltzer wrote a few “moments” in JLA where Black Canary was the warrior and woman that we knew but aside from that she’s back to being a the girl in the fishnets. (To the DC writers --- “READ Birds of Prey! Goddemmit!!”)
I was afraid that this mini-series would focus on Dinah mulling over whether to marry Ollie or not but this turned out to be more exciting because it’s all about Sin. During Dinah’s training in Southeast Asia, she brought a girl back to the
Raising Sin would be a handful. Cassandra Cain who was raised by her father, Slade, to be an assassin was a teen-ager when she stumbled into Oracle and Batman’s lives – they had it easy in spite of her lack of social skills and of well, speech (!) she had a clear sense of what was right or wrong. Sin - who needs to go to school, who needs to play with other children, who still has to go to hospitals when she catches the nasty stuff that children usually get have to be taught – well, everything! This kid has special skills and when she gets bullied – pity the bully. The scene in the “MacDonald’s” play area was expected but I loved it - when Sin tried to make friends and she told the others where she came from and the other kids thought she saw the stuff on TV - it was funny because these spoiled brats - who were in so much trouble - thought they were better than her. I wonder WHO babysits Sin when Dinah is with the JLA or Ollie. I mean she has to know who Dinah is because Sin will definitely talk and tell stories – she’s the kind of kid who likes to talk (like my little brother when he was a kid).
The villains in the mini-series knew how to get to Dinah – blindside her through people she cares about. The ex-hubby working with Black Arrow (tama ba?) was a twist I never saw coming because he was one of Ollie’s rogues. Going after Sin and Dinah does makes sense. Sayang apat na issues lang to….
